Florida suspended attorney Emelike Nwosuocha posthumously in Dec. 2025 for court contempt, months after his 2024 death.
Miami-area attorney Emelike Nwosuocha, who died in July 2024 at 64, was formally suspended by the Florida Supreme Court in December 2025 for contempt of court over a missed affidavit, more than five months after his death.
The suspension followed a prior three-year suspension in 2023 due to a dismissed case and unpaid attorney fees.
The Florida Bar had filed a contempt petition in April 2024, but delays in communication and record updates led to the final order being issued posthumously.
This marks the second such case in five years in South Florida, underscoring administrative challenges in disciplinary proceedings after an attorney’s death.
