Five legal cases have been filed in Ireland’s Commercial Court over the National Children’s Hospital project in Dublin, with contractor BAM Building Ltd disputing delays, design changes, inflation, and a €16.7 million bond call it calls unexpected.
The project, originally budgeted at nearly €1 billion, now exceeds €2.2 billion.
BAM seeks over €140 million in additional payments based on conciliator recommendations and a stay on proceedings to consolidate claims.
The hospital board has also filed a separate action to confirm a phase B project instruction was valid.
Justice Mark Sanfey admitted the cases to the fast-track list and adjourned hearings to encourage settlement talks.
