Barry Morphew has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the 2020 disappearance and death of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, whose remains were found in September 2023 near Moffat, Colorado.
The autopsy revealed her death resulted from intoxication involving BAM, a chemical mixture used to sedate animals, which Morphew had access to due to his past work as a deer farmer.
He was the only known person in the region with access to the substance during the relevant time period.
Suzanne’s bike and helmet were found near their home, and a text message on Morphew’s phone indicated she wanted to end their marriage.
Charges were initially dropped in 2022 but reinstated in 2025 after a grand jury indictment.
