A UK man was jailed for four years after recklessly transmitting HIV to a partner despite knowing his status and treatment could prevent spread.
A 31-year-old man from Kidderminster, Luke Davis, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison on January 12, 2026, for recklessly transmitting HIV to a sexual partner.
He had tested positive in 2017, started treatment in 2018, but stopped taking medication and attending appointments by 2019.
Despite medical advice that treatment prevents transmission, he failed to disclose his status.
Scientific evidence confirmed the victim was infected with the same HIV strain, and the victim had sex with Davis only during the likely transmission window.
Prosecutors stated his actions were reckless and caused lasting harm.
The case was heard at Hereford Crown Court.
