Shortly after, a truck carrying a speedway car, petrol, oil, and tires caught fire on the New England Highway, destroying the vehicle and burning nearby bushland.
The blaze prompted a temporary highway closure, and four people were treated for smoke inhalation, including a teenager and a man in his 20s.
Police are investigating both incidents.
