Three skiers triggered an avalanche in Colorado, injuring one who dislocated their shoulder.
A skier was injured Saturday in Rocky Mountain National Park when a wind slab avalanche was triggered by three skiers in the Haiyaha Couloir’s upper chute, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
One skier was briefly buried and sustained a shoulder dislocation after grabbing a tree, while another was caught in a secondary slide during rescue efforts.
The group safely evacuated and treated the injured member.
The CAIC warned of high avalanche danger due to recent snowfall and wind, urging backcountry users to check forecasts, assess snow stability, and carry beacons, probes, and shovels.
