Stellantis is ending plug-in hybrid sales in North America by 2026 due to safety recalls and shifting demand, shifting focus to BEVs and conventional hybrids.
Stellantis will stop selling plug-in hybrids in North America starting in 2026, ending production of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Grand Cherokee 4xe, and Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV, citing shifting demand and a prior recall of over 320,000 vehicles over fire risks.
The company will shift focus to battery electric vehicles and conventional hybrids in the region.
The move does not affect Australia, where the Grand Cherokee 4xe and Tonale PHEV were already discontinued, and the Compass PHEV continues, produced in Europe.
