Starting 1 February 2026, Victoria’s rail network adds 1,000+ weekly trains, with new Metro Tunnel services running every 3 minutes in peak hours.
The Metro Tunnel’s major timetable overhaul, effective 1 February 2026, introduces over 1,000 additional weekly train services across Victoria’s rail network.
All Sunbury, Cranbourne, and Pakenham line trains will now run exclusively through the new tunnel, enabling frequent peak-hour service—every three minutes—at new Metro Tunnel stations.
Between 6am and 9pm, services will run at least every 10 minutes between Watergardens and Dandenong.
The Frankston Line will resume in the City Loop, while Werribee and Williamstown lines will temporarily run to Flinders Street before linking with the Sandringham Line later in the year.
The rollout includes 260 new bus timetables to improve connections, and regional services on the Traralgon Line will see 18 extra trains.
