Gem Sri Lanka 2026 ended January 9 at Colombo’s Shangri-La Hotel, drawing over 150 booths and 2,000 attendees, with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya attending the opening. Organized by the Ceylon Gem and Jewellery Traders Association, the event highlighted Sri Lanka’s role in the global gemstone market, showcasing the full value chain from mining to finishing. GUILD, a three-year Platinum Sponsor, made its first dual-booth appearance, with its labs reporting record submission volumes, signaling recovery in the colored gemstone sector. The exhibition emphasized quality, transparency, and global sourcing from Africa, Madagascar, and Southeast Asia, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s position as a key trade hub amid shifting market dynamics.
