Nigeria opens $40M CCTV hub on Lagos’s Third Mainland Bridge, built by China, as part of infrastructure rehab.
The Nigerian federal government has inaugurated a N40 billion CCTV monitoring center on Lagos’s Third Mainland Bridge, the first of its kind in the country, built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
The project, launched under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, includes 240 solar panels, surveillance systems for both surface and underwater structures, a boat, and two vehicles for police use.
It’s part of a broader rehabilitation effort begun in 2023 to fix deteriorating infrastructure, with N36 billion paid of the N40.17 billion contract.
Full commissioning is pending completion of bridge extensions.
