The National Trust has unveiled major new plans for its UK sites, including in Wiltshire, after receiving a £10 million unrestricted donation—the largest in its 131-year history—from philanthropist Humphrey Battock.

It will also advance conservation efforts, such as boosting white-tailed eagle and beaver populations, and expand operations at Heartlands in Cornwall.
The trust’s director-general called the gift a vital boost for its 2026 strategy focused on reversing nature loss, improving public access, and fostering environmental stewardship.
