Himachal Pradesh sent Chilgoza saplings and seeds to Bhutan, boosting environmental cooperation and Himalayan conservation.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off a vehicle carrying Chilgoza saplings for Bhutan, symbolizing strengthened environmental ties. The state will also send Rs 5 lakh in seeds, train Bhutanese forest officials, and host a delegation for on-site learning. Local women’s groups will be supported in Chilgoza-related work. The move supports shared Himalayan conservation goals. Himachal reported a 55 sq km forest cover increase, with 9,000 hectares planted this year—60% with fruit-bearing species—and ongoing reforestation and community involvement through various green schemes.
