Business tycoon Jeety pledges $16,900 in materials to rebuild Liberia’s historic Suehn Industrial Academy.
Business tycoon Upjit Singh Sachdeva, known as “Jeety,” has pledged three million Liberian dollars in building materials—about $16,900—to begin rebuilding the historic Suehn Industrial Academy in Bomi County, Liberia, closed since the civil war.
Speaking at a Monrovia gala on January 9, 2026, he called education vital to Liberia’s future and described himself as “Liberian by heart.” The academy, founded in 1912, once produced national leaders.
His donation is the largest raised so far, with total commitments now exceeding $23,000 after a $5,000 pledge from Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti.
The goal is to restore the school to active use, fostering learning, character development, and community empowerment.
