On January 8, 2026, Wikwemikong Tribal Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Etobicoke, Ontario, at a residence on Manitoulin Island after responding to a report of an unwanted person.
Officers found him fleeing the home and arrested him without incident.
A search following the arrest uncovered a significant amount of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, valued at over $30,000, along with a large sum of Canadian cash.
He faces charges including break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of drugs for trafficking.
The man remains in custody ahead of a bail hearing.
Police Chief Ron Gignac reiterated the community’s commitment to fighting drug crime and urged residents to report suspicious activity to the police or Crime Stoppers.
