Police in Hubballi, Karnataka, have arrested three men—Shivanand, Ganesh, and Pradeep—for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman on January 10, 2026, after abducting her in an auto-rickshaw near Ambedkar Ground. The suspects reportedly forced her to consume alcohol, assaulted her, recorded the attack, and shared the videos on WhatsApp. The woman, who had been homeless for about 1.5 months after fleeing a marital dispute, was found staying near temples and religious sites. Public outrage followed the video’s circulation, leading to the suspects’ arrest and a separate case after residents assaulted them. Police have filed an FIR under rape and IT Act provisions, and are working to relocate homeless individuals in public areas.
