India set four Guinness records building a new highway, paving 156 lane-km in one stretch and laying 57,500 tonnes of concrete nonstop.
India's NHAI, with partner Rajpath Infracon, set four Guinness World Records in January 2026 during construction of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor.
On January 6, they achieved the longest continuous bituminous concrete paving—28.89 lane-kilometres—and the highest daily material placement at 10,655 tonnes.
On January 11, they broke two more records: 57,500 tonnes of concrete laid continuously and 156 lane-kilometres paved in a single stretch.
The project, using 70 tippers, five hot mix plants, a paver, and 17 rollers, included quality oversight from IIT Bombay.
Once complete, the 343-km six-lane highway will cut travel time between Bengaluru and Vijayawada by nearly four hours and reduce distance by 100 km.
