Imo State launches 7,000-member community security force to boost safety and crime prevention.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has launched the 7,000-member Imo State Vigilance Services Organisation, a community-based security force aimed at preventing crime and enhancing local safety.
The group, established under the Imo State Security Organisation Amendment Law No.
3 of 2025, was inaugurated during a passing-out parade, with members trained in intelligence gathering and threat detection.
The governor highlighted the group's role as community “eyes and ears,” citing a peaceful Christmas and New Year period as evidence of progress.
The initiative builds on regional cooperation through the Ebube Agu security alliance and will work alongside formal security agencies to promote stability and development across the state.
