Goldfest 2026 launched in Ahmedabad on January 10, celebrating 50 years of Indo-Japan friendship and the first anniversary of the sister city ties between Ahmedabad and Hamamatsu, along with the sister state relationship with Shizuoka Prefecture. The five-day cultural festival, organized by the Indo-Japan Friendship Association of Gujarat, began with the "Patang-O-Dori" kite exhibition featuring Japanese kites, Hamamatsu lanterns, and shared cultural narratives on kite-flying traditions.
