A coded pigeon found in a border village raises espionage concerns amid a drone seizure.
A pale grey pigeon with coded leg rings and wing markings was captured on January 10, 2026, in Kharah Balli, a village near the Line of Control in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector, by a 13-year-old boy.
The bird, bearing inscriptions including “Rehmat Sarkar” and “Rizwan 2025,” along with a stamp for the Nowshera Aling Pigeon Club, has sparked security concerns, with officials investigating possible espionage links to Pakistan.
Around the same time, a suspicious drone was found in Gorkha Nagar and seized.
The incidents have heightened scrutiny in the sensitive border region.
