Chennai holds voter registration camps ahead of elections, urging eligible citizens to update rolls by Jan. 18.
Special voter registration and revision camps are ongoing today at all 4,079 polling stations in Chennai district as part of India’s Election Commission efforts to update electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
The initiative, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), follows the December 19, 2025, release of the draft voter list, with claims and objections due by January 18, 2026.
Previous camps in late December and early January drew strong turnout.
Citizens can register using Form 6, file objections with Form 7, or update details like address, photo ID, or disability status via Form 8.
Officials urge eligible voters, especially those turning 18 or missing from the draft, to participate before the deadline to ensure accurate and inclusive rolls.
