Belleville dropped to 22nd in Canadian migration rankings despite steady move-ins, as more residents left for cheaper areas.
Belleville ranked 22nd among Canadian cities for growth in U-Haul’s 2025 migration data, dropping from third place in 2024 despite remaining a popular move-in destination.
The city saw a 1% rise in arrivals and a 19% increase in departures, with 52.4% of U-Haul traffic coming in and 47.6% going out.
U-Haul attributes the shift to residents moving out to more affordable nearby areas while new arrivals tend to afford higher-priced homes and commute.
Calgary led the national rankings for the third straight year, followed by Barrie, Montreal, Victoria, and Edmonton.
Ontario had nine of the top 25 growth cities, but recorded the largest net loss of U-Haul customers among provinces, though it improved from 2024.
Belleville cayó al puesto 22 en la clasificación de migración canadiense a pesar de las constantes mudanzas, ya que más residentes se fueron a zonas más baratas.
