Andhra Pradesh's land pooling project in Amaravati stalls amid corruption allegations and unmet infrastructure promises.
Farmers in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, remain distressed as the state government moves forward with the second phase of land pooling without resolving issues from the first phase, where nearly 50,000 acres were acquired.
YSR Congress Party coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy criticized the Chandrababu Naidu-led government for failing to deliver basic infrastructure despite spending only Rs 5,000 crore over five years—far below the estimated Rs 1 lakh crore needed.
He accused the government of misusing funds, citing over Rs 40,000 crore in loans with no corresponding development, inflated construction costs, and questionable contracts.
Reddy highlighted that many allotted plots are in low-lying or water-logged areas, making them unsellable, and questioned the government’s integrity, contrasting it with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s presence in Amaravati.
The project is now seen as a symbol of mismanagement and corruption.
