TikTok creator Leigh Sutherland got 9 years for killing Margaret Allan in a 2023 crash while speeding with a faulty car and fleeing the scene.
Leigh Sutherland, a 31-year-old TikTok creator who falsely portrayed himself as a legal professional, was sentenced to nine years in prison for causing the death of 77-year-old Margaret Allan in a June 15, 2023, crash in Cumbernauld, Scotland.
Driving a Ford Mondeo with known brake issues and an unsecured battery, Sutherland was speeding when he struck Allan’s Peugeot 108, killing her and injuring her 10-year-old grandson.
He fled the scene, made derogatory remarks, and later gave police a false account claiming a Romanian man had test-driven the car.
Sutherland, who was on bail and had been banned from driving, was convicted of dangerous driving causing death.
He was also disqualified from driving for 13 years and six months.
Authorities confirmed his vehicle’s mechanical faults contributed to the crash, and the court criticized his lack of remorse and continued online activity during remand.
