South Africa will end new N3 certificates in 2026, with NCV Level 2–3 results now issued by the government.
South Africa’s Umalusi will stop issuing new N3 certificates from 2026, with 2025 the final year for N1–N3 programmes, as part of a government-led phase-out starting January 1, 2024.
Existing N3 certificates remain valid, and Umalusi will still issue replacements.
The Department of Higher Education and Training will now provide statements of results for NCV Levels 2 and 3, following a December 2025 directive, while Umalusi continues to certify NCV Level 4 exams to ensure national exam integrity.
