The National Park Service is seeking public help in investigating a December 22, 2025, incident near the Deep Creek Picnic Area in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where a man reportedly pointed a firearm at another individual after a vehicle collision. The suspect, described as a thin male in his late teens or early 20s with a thin mustache and hooded jacket, fled with a group of about 10 people in a silver or gray lifted pickup truck, a white SUV, and a grey sedan toward Bryson City. The victim fled after hearing multiple gunshots. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NPS tip line or submit a tip online.
