In Jan 2026, 800 Northeast Indian science students toured ISRO’s Bengaluru facilities under a government STEM initiative.
Around 800 top science students from India’s eight northeastern states visited ISRO’s Bengaluru facilities in January 2026 as part of the NE-SPARKS programme, a government initiative launched to boost interest in space science and STEM careers.
Funded with ₹3.83 crore through a 60:40 split between the North Eastern Council and state governments, the programme includes eight batches from April to December 2025, each with 90–100 students and coordinators.
Participants toured ISRO facilities, met scientists, and learned about India’s space missions.
The effort, advised by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to reduce regional disparities in access to scientific opportunities and inspire future innovation in India’s growing space sector.
