India's 2025 Operation Sindoor triggered Pakistan's military overhauls, including a new centralized defense chief and abolished Joint Chiefs role, per India's top general.
India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to a 2025 terror attack, prompted Pakistan to enact major constitutional and military reforms, including abolishing the Joint Chiefs chairman role and creating a centralized Chief of Defence Forces, according to India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.
He said these changes reflect systemic weaknesses in Pakistan’s military structure and a shift toward centralized, land-centric control.
Chauhan noted the reforms, including new bodies like the National Strategy Command, reveal vulnerabilities exposed during the operation, which remains on pause.
India, meanwhile, is advancing its joint theatre commands, with a revised deadline of May 30, 2026, but aims to complete the restructuring ahead of schedule.
La Operación Sindoor 2025 de la India desencadenó las reformas militares de Pakistán, incluido un nuevo jefe de defensa centralizado y la abolición de la función de los Jefes de Estado Mayor Conjuntos, según el principal general de la India.
