India has reaffirmed its claim over the Shaksgam Valley, stating the 1963 China-Pakistan boundary agreement transferring the region to Pakistan is illegal and invalid.
The Ministry of External Affairs said India does not recognize the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) passing through the area, calling its construction of roads and military infrastructure a violation of India’s territorial integrity.
India maintains that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of its territory and continues to protest China’s efforts to alter the ground situation along the Line of Actual Control.
