Hector Gomez sentenced to 10 years for threatening Albany tavern patrons with a loaded gun.
Hector Gomez, 41, of Schenectady, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for brandishing a loaded 9 mm handgun at patrons in Albany’s Washington Tavern on Feb. 8, 2025.
Prosecutors said he pointed the gun at multiple people, including placing it against a woman’s head, threatened to kill everyone, and fired two rounds into the ground before fleeing.
Video footage captured the incident, showing patrons in fear.
Gomez, who admitted to using drugs and alcohol, turned himself in nine days later and apologized, citing personal tragedies.
Judge Thomas Marcelle called the actions a “recipe for death and disaster.” He was also ordered to serve five years of post-release supervision.
