Governor Ferguson faces ethics hearing over using state plane for former aide’s trip.
The Washington State Executive Ethics Board found "reasonable cause" to believe Governor Bob Ferguson violated ethics laws by permitting his former aide, Mike Webb, to fly on a state aircraft during a June 2024 trip to the Tri-Cities.
The board concluded the use of a state patrol plane by a non-employee constituted a special privilege and potential misuse of public resources, despite Ferguson’s claim that the flight incurred no additional cost.
Webb, who resigned in March amid workplace allegations, was then working for a law firm on wildfire compensation cases.
The case, prompted by a complaint from a Tumwater resident, advances to a formal enforcement hearing where Ferguson may face penalties up to $5,000 per violation and possible restitution.
