Singapore and Indonesia probe cross-border baby trafficking ring involving at least 25 infants from West Java to Singapore for adoption.
Singapore and Indonesia are investigating a suspected cross-border baby trafficking ring that allegedly sent at least 25 infants from West Java to Singapore for adoption, with 15 children reportedly destined for Singaporean families.
The probe, launched in September 2025 after a parent reported a kidnapping, led to arrests in Indonesia and ongoing cooperation between police and social services in both countries.
As a result, citizenship applications for some adopted children have been delayed while authorities verify cases and prioritize child welfare.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development acknowledged the distress caused and are providing support to affected families, including financial assistance through social service offices.
