The Baltimore Orioles avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $8.5 million deal with shortstop Gunnar Henderson, setting a franchise record for a player in their first arbitration-eligible year, according to MLB.com.
The unconfirmed agreement comes as the Orioles also reached terms with Taylor Ward ($12.175 million), Adley Rutschman ($7.25 million), Ryan Mountcastle ($6.7 million with a 2027 team option), Dean Kremer ($5.75 million), and Shane Baz ($3.5 million).
Henderson, 24, was the 2023 AL Rookie of the Year and earned his first All-Star selection in 2024, posting career highs in home runs, RBIs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, finishing fourth in AL MVP voting.
He batted .274 with 17 homers and 68 RBIs in 154 games during the 2025 season.
The deals were reported but not officially confirmed by the team.
