A Nevada man was sentenced to 2–5 years in prison for possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material online.
Orion Scott Pickens, 28, of Sparks, Nevada, was sentenced to two to five years in prison for felony charges related to child exploitation, including possession, distribution, and using the internet to control child sexual abuse material involving a minor under 16.
The case began in June 2024 when a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office ICAC Task Force to trace suspected uploads to the social media platform X from an IP address in Sparks.
Investigators traced the activity to Pickens’ residence, obtained a warrant, seized his cell phone, and conducted digital forensic analysis that confirmed the charges.
He was arrested on October 29, 2024.
The case involved collaboration among multiple agencies, including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, highlighting the ICAC Task Force’s advanced capabilities and commitment to combating child exploitation.
