At the 2026 State of the Cities event, mayors from Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, Dilworth, and Horace shared updates on regional growth, infrastructure, and challenges. West Fargo projects 17,000 to 26,000 new residents and 13,000 to 20,000 jobs by 2050, with a new convention center expected to generate $50 million in its first year. Hector Airport will expand its terminal by 73,000 square feet, adding nine gates and new amenities. Moorhead is completing the Loop Building, City Hall renovations, and an 11th Street underpass. Fargo and Moorhead are advancing efforts to address homelessness, including new outreach centers and housing navigators. Horace is shifting to permanent bonding to lower costs, while Dilworth announced a $10.6 million community center project. The FM Diversion Project remains on track for spring 2027 completion. Mayors emphasized the need for state support and collaboration on public safety, housing, and mental health.
