India appoints two senior IPS officers to key security and human rights roles, approved by PM Modi’s cabinet.
The Indian government has appointed senior IPS officers Anand Swaroop and Anupama Nilekar Chandra to top roles in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Human Rights Commission, respectively.
Swaroop, a 1992-batch officer, takes over as Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the MHA, succeeding Praveen Vashista, and will serve until August 31, 2029.
Nilekar Chandra, a 1994-batch officer, is appointed Director General (Investigation) at the NHRC, effective from her joining date, with a term ending March 31, 2031.
Both appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
