A fire-damaged waste facility in Singleton will reopen Jan. 12 after safety work; bins remain, but hazardous items must go to recycling centers.
A waste management facility in Singleton, closed since a December 30 fire spread to nearby bushland, is set to reopen on January 12 after emergency crews and council workers completed safety and environmental remediation.
Firefighting teams, including helicopters, contained the blaze, and a new mixed waste disposal area has been established.
Kerbside collections continue normally, though some red bin services are delayed due to longer hauls; additional trucks are being used to maintain schedules.
Residents are urged to keep bins out and are reminded not to place hazardous materials like batteries, electronics, or chemicals in regular bins—these can be safely disposed of at the reopened Community Recycling Centre or approved local businesses.
The council thanked the community for its patience.
