A Delhi court has framed charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, and 41 others in a land-for-job scam during Yadav’s 2004–2009 tenure as Union Railway Minister.
The court found evidence of a criminal conspiracy, alleging that Group D railway jobs were awarded in exchange for land transfers to Yadav’s family and associates, with the ministry allegedly used as a personal fiefdom.
The Central Bureau of Investigation’s chargesheet, filed in 2022, named 103 accused, but 52 were discharged and five deceased.
The Enforcement Directorate has also launched a money laundering probe, attaching assets worth over ₹600 crore.
The case, which the Yadav family denies as politically motivated, will proceed to trial, with formal charge framing set for January 23.
