A court delayed Enoch Burke's disciplinary appeal hearing amid his prison sentence for repeated school trespasses.
A disciplinary appeals panel has temporarily paused its review of Enoch Burke’s dismissal from Wilson’s Hospital School, following a High Court request by Burke, who is imprisoned for civil contempt over repeated trespasses on school grounds.
The delay, until January 16 for a replying affidavit and a hearing on January 21, was agreed upon after Burke argued the postponement was unjust and prejudicial, especially after over 550 days in prison.
The panel cited member availability and case complexity, while Burke and his family called the delay negligent and a “scandal.” Ms Justice Emily Farrell granted the adjournment, noting no immediate prejudice but acknowledging the broader legal dispute.
The case remains pending.
