Wiltshire Council prepares formal opposition to proposed Lime Down Solar Park, citing environmental and economic concerns.
Wiltshire Council is preparing a formal response to the proposed Lime Down Solar Park, a 1,237-hectare renewable energy project near former MP Neil Hamilton’s Grade I listed home, Bradfield Manor.
Speaking at a January 6, 2026, cabinet meeting, Hamilton and other councillors raised concerns over environmental harm, potential tourism losses of £1.76 million annually, groundwater flooding, and the project’s misalignment with local energy goals.
The development, classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, will be decided by the Planning Inspectorate and ultimately Energy Secretary Ed Miliband.
The council voted to empower its planning director to finalize and submit a robust response by January 9.
