A North Carolina father was arrested for allegedly leaving a gun accessible, resulting in a 4-year-old boy being shot and hospitalized.
Shawn Baker, 46, was arrested in Durham, North Carolina, in connection with a November 2025 incident in which a 4-year-old boy was accidentally shot with an unsecured firearm at a home on Greenbriar Road.
Baker, the child’s father, faces multiple charges including felony negligent child abuse, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and trafficking in fentanyl.
The boy remains hospitalized.
The child’s mother, Assante Allah Moore, was previously charged with similar offenses after allegedly leaving a 10mm pistol accessible to the child.
Police have not explained the nearly two-month delay in Baker’s arrest.
