The Kansas City Current hired Chris Armas as head coach on January 7, 2026, replacing Vlatko Andonovski.
Armas, a 53-year-old former U.S. Men’s National Team player and 2025 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, most recently led the Colorado Rapids to the MLS Cup Playoffs and a Leagues Cup third-place finish.
He brings extensive coaching experience from MLS, the English Premier League, and collegiate soccer, including stints with the New York Red Bulls, Chicago Fire, and Adelphi University.
The club’s co-owners praised his leadership and vision, while Armas cited the team’s culture and fan base as key reasons for joining.
