India seeks diplomatic action after 'Dhurandhar' banned in multiple Middle Eastern nations despite being India’s top-grossing film.
The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association has urged Prime Minister Modi to intervene after the film 'Dhurandhar,' starring Ranveer Singh, was reportedly banned in several Middle Eastern countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
The film, certified by India’s Central Board of Film Certification, has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, surpassing 'Pushpa 2' with over Rs 831 crore in net collections.
IMPPA called the bans unilateral and unjustified, arguing they suppress free expression and harm India’s cultural and business ties with the region.
The association requested diplomatic action to lift the restrictions, emphasizing the film’s success and its planned sequel, set for release during Eid 2026.
