Ghana confirms NLA-KGL lottery deal stays, with review set for 2026 ahead of 2027 rollout.
Ghana’s government has confirmed the NLA-KGL lottery licensing agreement remains in effect, with a strategic review advanced to early 2026 for renegotiation ahead of 2027 implementation.
Officials, including former NLA PR head Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, stated the review is constitutionally mandated under Article 36 and not a response to media pressure.
The process, led by the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice, aims to strengthen the contract and ensure national and private interests are protected.
KGL, described as a credible global entity, supports the review and dismissed criticism from the Fourth Estate and Media Foundation for West Africa as unfounded.
The government continues to prioritize renegotiation over termination.
