FBI rebrands SIOC to DSIC, boosting threat response and doubling violent crime arrests.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the rebranding and restructuring of the Strategic Information & Operations Center (SIOC) into the Director’s Strategic Information Center (DSIC), a major upgrade aimed at improving real-time threat awareness and response.
The new center features physical renovations, expanded staffing for 24/7 coverage and surge capacity, and a zero-latency information-sharing system to accelerate decision-making.
Patel said the changes have strengthened coordination with federal, state, and local partners and contributed to a doubling of violent crime arrests compared to the previous year.
The SIOC, established in 1989 after a prison riot, previously served as a central command during major crises including the Oklahoma City bombing and Y2K transition.
The DSIC is now designed to enhance the FBI’s speed and effectiveness in responding to evolving threats.
