Wiltshire Council approved a new military training facility at MOD Lyneham, starting construction in 2026.
A new training facility at MOD Lyneham in Wiltshire has been approved by Wiltshire Council, with construction set to begin following permission granted on December 24.
Part of Project Tellus, the 27,000-square-meter building will be built on former hangar sites within the 466-hectare base, supporting military vehicle maintenance training.
The development includes new structures, refurbishments, and landscaping, with no impact on heritage assets and no visibility from nearby roads or homes.
The base, established in the 1930s and formerly the RAF’s main transport hub until 2011, remains an active military site.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation submitted the planning application in July.
