Starting January 1, 2026, Vietnam extends full health insurance coverage to near-poor households and seniors aged 75 and above receiving social pensions, raising their reimbursement rate from 95% to 100%.
The change, mandated by a December 2025 National Assembly resolution, aligns with the 2024 Health Insurance Law, which already covers 11 groups including veterans, children under six, and ethnic minorities.
The Ministry of Health is updating benefit codes nationwide to ensure uninterrupted access, with plans to expand free hospital fees to all citizens by 2030 through phased reforms.
