Palo Alto startup founder Vikram Beri, 42, arrested Dec. 6, 2025, on arson and attempted murder charges after fire, bottle-throwing, and Tesla ramming at Saratoga winery.
Vikram Beri, 42, a Palo Alto mental health startup founder, was arrested on December 6, 2025, after allegedly setting a picnic table on fire, throwing wine bottles, and ramming his Tesla at Garrod Farms Estate & Stables in Saratoga.
Facing felony charges including arson and attempted murder, Beri was held without bail.
His attorney secured rare court approval for his brother to access Beri’s phone from jail to exercise over $1 million in expiring stock options, requiring two-factor authentication.
The request was granted by Judge Griffin Bonini with oversight by the District Attorney’s Office.
Beri’s mental health history was cited but not formally diagnosed.
The incident began after he was asked to leave the property while smoking and later mixed fabric softener into wine.
The winery operates stables and offers riding lessons.
