Nathaniel Smith, 29, of Perham, Minnesota, faces federal charges for carjacking, robbery, and transporting stolen vehicles across state lines following a multi-day theft spree in late 2025.

Smith, arrested September 11 after fleeing law enforcement twice, admitted in a plea agreement to all charges, including attempting to destroy evidence by remotely wiping a phone’s data during a jail call.
He could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, though a likely sentence is six to 12 years if the plea is accepted.
