India created over 600 new standards in 2025, expanded certifications, and boosted digital services under a shift to facilitation.
In 2025, India’s Bureau of Indian Standards developed over 600 new standards, raising its total to 23,293 across emerging fields like AI, robotics, and green technologies.
It issued nearly 9,700 product certification licenses, mostly within 30 days, and added 124 products to the mandatory certification list, including currency sorting and injection moulding machines.
The agency expanded its fast-track scheme to cover 1,288 products and enhanced digital services through the Manak Online Portal.
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi credited the progress to a shift from regulation to facilitation, with support for MSMEs and improved infrastructure.
