Capital Clean Energy Carriers launched the world’s largest liquefied CO2 carrier, with plans to use it for LPG and later hydrogen shipments, advancing Japan’s clean energy goals.
Capital Clean Energy Carriers has received the world’s largest liquefied CO2 and multigas carrier, with plans to initially use it for LPG shipments. In December 2025, the company ordered the world’s largest liquefied hydrogen carrier from Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, set for construction at Sakaide Works. The hydrogen vessel, expected to hold about 40,000 cubic meters, will support Japan’s goal of establishing a commercial international hydrogen supply chain. The project, backed by Japan’s Green Innovation Fund, aims to complete ocean-going trials by fiscal 2030, building on the success of the Suiso Frontier, the world’s first liquefied hydrogen carrier. This marks a major advancement in clean energy infrastructure and global hydrogen trade.
